Just stumbled across this, a classic piece of BC punk rock history!
BB Pic: Toronto G20 Graffiti at Spadina & Baldwin - Thursday, June24th, 2010
I haven’t done a Friday Newshole song of the week in, like, forever. But, in honour of today (Thursday) being more-or-less Friday, thanks to the G20 Hysteria - my Belgian buddy Christophe, who has a four day work week, calls Thursday “Jeudredi” - I’m posting Phish’s ‘Down with Disease’. It’s a bit retro 90s hippie, but it’s a personal favourite thanks to my buddy Dave, who is now living in Regina.
My pals Amber and Chris made this trailer for Amber’s new book Power Friending. It’s a riff on the TV Show Dexter, and is super well done. Check it out!
Great video of interview with Sebastien Horsley (RIP).
The BSS scene movie seems suitably rad.

BB Pic Series: Colombian expatriates voting in the presidential election at the consulate in Toronto - Sun, May 30, 2010 - 10:30 AM

BB Pic Series: Installation/Performance Art at the Canadian Marking Association conference - lunch, May 27, 2010 - Toronto #CMAnext2010
It definitely worked as art - people wondered what the heck was goin’ on and had a conversation about it.
The title was “Males 19-24, Caputred by James Ready and Leo Burnett.”
While taking my wee phone pix, one of the art crew asked me over to where he was filming the audience reaction with his video camera. He wanted to know what I thought about it.
It’s unclear if he was curious if people got it, or if he wanted to bathe in the irony.
To be honest I hadn’t processed it - just appreciated the spectacle. But I played along.
So, if you look closely, the young men are trapped in fly paper. Put that together with the title of the piece and the setting, and voila, instant art!
Not sure it rocked my world in the making-me-think department, but I’m glad it was there.
